True ER Stories: "Episode 1: The Rogue Manager" 🚨1. General Manager Magivor requests Employee Relations draft a new employment contract for a new employee 📝2. Employee Relations drafts a beautiful, legally sound contract ✨3. Employee Relations sends contract to Magivor, saying "just sign the bottom and send it" ✔️4. Magivor does not listen. Magivor has other plans. 🤨5. Magivor changes the employment contract without telling Employee Relations 😬6. Magivor makes the changes 'by hand', and for some unknown reason, decides to cross out key terms, such as set-off clause, incorporation of policies and play around with legal definitions ✍️❌7. Magivor sends the 'hand-drawn' contract to the employee to sign 🤦♂️8. Magivor sends the hand drawn signed version to Employee Relations. 📩9. Employee Relations goes into a state of shock and falls off chair. 😱💺10. Little does Magivor know that he has created a serious potential underpayment issue for the business because he created a poorly drafted contract. 🚨💸Moral of the story: Please ensure your contracts are drafted carefully and soundly by professionals. Every word has a meaning and a purpose.
