I'm currently sitting in the Alaska Lounge at SEA. I'm Oneworld Emerald, flying AA/BA SEA-PHL-LHR-BUD.
I didn't know whether I was entitled to enter, and unfortunately the lounge agent didn't know either: she looked it up on her iPad, and worked through some kind of flowchart, and asked a colleague, but still didn't know. Just scanning my boarding pass wasn't an option, apparently. So she gave me the benefit of the doubt and let me in (after laboriously typing my entire itinerary into her device).
So, should I be here? Or should she have turned me away?

The agents at the entry desks at the Alaska Lounges do one thing, determine who can come in. The set of rules for entry are not hard. But yet we still have issues where the agents seem to have no clue, for the most basic of itineraries. This is not rocket science people.

Having a background in restaurants/bars, the lounge worker thing has always fascinated me. The same people trying to determine who is let in and not will be the same person trying to figure out how to pour me a beer a few minutes later. Basically, they cross-train people to do all the roles. I suppose from a staffing perspective that's beneficial but it seems lots of the staff haven't really mastered any one position.

Not only that, they don’t do the one function that I really care about which is assist in irops
. I could forgive the fact that they have no idea how to use their espresso machine if they could at least help rebook me when my flight gets cancelled.

When I worked for a county sheriff's office we'd have mutual aid functions throughout the year. Occasionally an Adam Henry would be arrested and do a double take when he would see the arresting deputy when he was later processed and housed in jail. Usually response was, "That's my twin brother."

Arrived at 8PM. 90%full. Delayed flight for me and the lounge is now at 100% full. Pretty much SRO. Crew are keeping the food out and glasses full.

I'm MVPG (OWS) and traveling on a flight from SEA to SJO (Costa Rica) with a stop in DFW. I purchased the ticket in from AA and all the legs on the ticket are AA ticketed/operated EXCEPT for the first leg which is part of the intinerary but has an AS flight number (and is AS operated). When I checked in, the AS agent couldn't give me the boarding pass for the AA leg from DFW→SJO and told us to pick it up in DFW.
According to my reading of the rules, I should have access to the AS lounge in SEA since it's part of an international itinerary on OW airlines to a country that is not on the excluded list of AS (or AA, for that matter). The AS agent at the lounge scanned the Alasaka boarding pass, couldn't see the second leg to SFO, and refused us access to the lounge. Is this legit? Will things be different once I get a AA BP in DFW? If I was incorrectly refused access to a lounge, is there anything else I can do?

You could have gotten into the AA and CX lounge in SFO instead. You should have gotten into the AS lounge. I would have shown the itinerary and explained that your AA BP didn't print. I would write in and see what AS can do for you.

What TV channels, if any, were playing?

Only one TV was on. Not sure what the program was but as I was talking to the bartender we watched the before & after reveal of a little girl's new bedroom.
On a side note, I asked when the expansion to the lounge was going to open and they said "Sometime in September, but we have no date yet." I will be heading out again on Sept. 18, so hope to see it then.
